Winter Garden

There is not much left in the garden as of 19 Dec 2010. I spent a little time digging up some weeds and removing the dead tomato and pepper plants. I was looking forward to some horseradish but the roots were mushy and inedible. I split the root up and burried them deep, hoping that next year the reward will be better. I broke up a bulb of garlic and planted that.
The ground was littered with tomatoes and peppers, I expect next year to have many volunteers.

The Garden

On 13 May 2010, the garden looked like this.

Plants in the garden include tomatoes, peppers, basil, onions, eggplants, beets, parsely, carrots, squash, oregano, leeks, chives, and peas.

Above are the tomatos, there are three Early Girls and one beefeater. The beefeater was planted much later and is still small. All the early girls have tomatoes on them.

The first row has pepper plants, the second two rows are basil.

Green squash

The row to the left is leaks, in lines are alternating rows of carrots, beets, and radishes. At the top of this photograph are three volunteer squash from the previous year, species...unknown.

Okra.

Cherry tomatoes with three heads of lettuce given to us by another gardener

Banana peppers, some have small green peppers starting to grow on them.

Red and White onions.

Two eggplants and a barely recognizable horseradish.
